An Indian cultural experience at Little India & ACM

I can't believe I managed to navigate around the narrow alleyways in Little India all on my own with 2 boys in tow! What an experience ! We walked from 6.45pm till almost 9pm with a short dinner break in between. Headed first to the festival village. The lane nearest to the Verge was empty!

Zech and Nathanael trying henna painting. This little Nath was restless in less than a min!

We walked to the next lane of the festival village. It was crowded! Many Indians were there preparing for Deepavali.

Bought a feather peacock for the boys each.

The festive ambience was great!

We walked to the umbrella installation, which was opposite Sri Veeramakaliamman temple. See the cute umbrellas on the tree behind Zech?

Had a break at an Indian cafe. I had Prata while the kids tried some Indian sweets. Zech loves the doughnut looking like snack. Was surprised he finished it all by himself. Nath enjoyed Laddu, which is my fav too!

There's another interesting installation at Clive St. The boys were all excited when they saw the colourful bulls! They had a wonderful time climbing up and down the bulls. That must be the highlight of the trip.

The next day, Zech and I went to 'All Lit Up' Saturday @ ACM. Free admission for all, which happens once a month. There are craft activities and storytelling by Act 3 International. Special treat this sat at ACM as it coincided with 398.2 storytelling festival.

We were at the museum at 2pm. The Deepavali related skit put up by Act 3 was as usual fantastic and interactive.

Colouring of the rangoli by the kids.

Zech in the act with the actors. He didn't really like it but still did it cos I wanted him to.

Storytelling by the 398.2 storytellers followed suit after the drama.

A very captivating storyteller - Roger Jenkins

Another storyteller...

Zech sat there for more than an hour. He was tired by the end. Haha!

Then he made 2 flower garlands. One for himself and one for his bro. He wanted to watch the drama by Act 3 again but we had to go for dinner.

A fruitful weekend indeed! Now Zech knows a bit more about the Indian culture and cultural awareness is one step closer to racial harmony. :)
